Don’t know what to do with your unwanted, lightly used gear? Sell it on consignment! East Ridge Outfitters is now accepting quality used outdoor equipment for store credit or cash when it sells!

Swing by East Ridge Outfitters’ new location at 635 Penn Avenue in West Reading anytime during business hours and we’ll be happy to evaluate your outdoor gear and apparel for sale in our new consignment department. When your item sells, you’ll receive 75% of the selling price towards store credit, or 60%  in the form of a check. Stop in and speak with us for more information. Feel free to drop by during store hours, but please understand we may not be able to evaluate your stuff right away if our staff is busy.

In case you are unfamiliar with consignment, here’s a list of common questions you might ask:

What is consignment and how does it work?

When you are selling with East Ridge Outfitters, you are the consignor and we will have you fill out a consignment agreement which will list our terms and conditions along with the items you are selling. Our selling term is 90 days, but we may choose to accept a shorter term at the end of the season. We will examine your merchandise, determine pieces we will take and establish the selling price with you. You can decide whether you would like payment as store credit or a check. After the items have sold, we contact you via email. There is a 10 day waiting period for payments to allow for processing and returns. Payments can be picked up in-store, or can be mailed if requested. Items that remain after the term date must be picked up within two weeks. The agreement may be cancelled by either party at any time during the term.

What items will you accept for consignment in your store?

We accept gently used, in-season outdoor apparel and gear from recognized outdoor gear brands including (but not limited to) Patagonia, Keen, Merrell, Arcteryx, La Sportiva, Black Diamond, North Face, Outdoor Research, Prana. Five Ten and others. Items must be clean and functional – Apparel and footwear must be clean and free of pet hair, stains, tears, rips and smells. It is up to the discretion of East Ridge Outfitters to decide what we can and cannot sell.
Camping — Backpack, tents, sleeping bags and pads, cookware and stoves, trekking poles, books, maps and more!
Climbing — Due to the risk of using second-hand rock climbing gear, we will only accept like-new equipment including harnesses, technical equipment, carabiners and helmets. All gear is subject to inspection and not all gear will be accepted. We will also accept chalk bags, climbing shoes and other soft goods.
Apparel — Most gently worn apparel and accessories from respected outdoor brands are accepted including rain jackets, pants, shirts, hats and gloves.
Footwear — Lightly used boots, trail shoes and sneakers, sandals and rock climbing shoes.
Feel free to stop by for a better idea of what sort of items we accept and sell or email us at sales@eastridgeoutfitters.com. At this time we are not accepting water sports or biking equipment. We also do not want any exercise equipment or athletic brands.

Do you ever offer cash for items on the spot?

No, our system at East Ridge Outfitters is setup for consignment only.  If you are looking for same day money for your items, you are better off at a pawn shop or another establishment.  Selling your gear on consignment will take longer than an upfront sale, but you’ll usually receive more money for your items by consigning them instead of selling for cash on the spot.

Here at East Ridge Outfitters we are always looking for quality technical gear that is clean and functional. Because our selection is constantly changing, we are unable to list all consignment items on our website, so be sure to stop in often to check out our current inventory and bring life back to old gear!
